Defense Ministry Denies Landmine Clearance Work Near Armenian-Turkish Border

The Armenian side is not conducting landmine clearance work near the Armenian-Turkish border. This was stated by the Defense Ministry to "Azatutyun."

Yesterday, several Turkish media outlets reported that Turkey had begun landmine clearance operations in areas adjacent to the Armenian-Turkish border in the Kars province. According to the local publication "GazeteKars," this is a practical step in the process of normalizing Armenian-Turkish relations.

After the latest meeting of Armenian and Turkish envoys in Vienna on July 1, the parties announced that they had agreed to open the land border for citizens of third countries, as well as to allow direct air cargo transport between the two countries.

Official Yerevan states that it is waiting for these agreements to be implemented as soon as possible.
