Gagik Tsarukyan Foundation Issues Statement

The Gagik Tsarukyan Charitable Foundation has issued a statement which reads: “Considering the concerns raised by the professional community and various public groups regarding the presence of historical and cultural monuments in the area of Mount Hatis, the Gagik Tsarukyan Charitable Foundation has appealed to the relevant authorities to obtain the necessary professional conclusions and permits to begin construction works.

Currently, specific works are being carried out exclusively in terms of infrastructure, such as ensuring the provision of roads, electricity, gas, and water supply, while the construction of the monumental statue of Jesus Christ will commence only after receiving positive conclusions from the relevant authorities.”

It is worth reminding that earlier the ministry had issued a statement, informing that the information regarding the choice of Mount Hatis as the location for the statue had been obtained from media sources. At the same time, regional employees of the “Service for the Preservation of Historical-Cultural Monuments and Historical Environment” agency under the ministry have reported that road alignment and widening works are being conducted leading to the summit of Mount Hatis.
