Death Toll in Sri Lanka Rises to 103; 11 Journalists Injured

The death toll in Sri Lanka amid mass protests has reached 103, according to the News First news portal citing representatives of the country's health sector, as reported by TASS on Sunday.

The national hospital in Colombo has stated that 55 individuals are receiving inpatient treatment. One of the injured protesters is currently in intensive care. There is no information available regarding the deceased.

During the coverage of the protests, 11 journalists were injured. Earlier, a video was released showing police firing at the walls of a building as protesters stormed the presidential residence. After seizing the premises, protesters entered the Prime Minister's residence and set it ablaze.

In light of the unrest, Sri Lanka's Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe announced that he would resign from his position. Meanwhile, President Gotabaya Rajapaksa intends to leave office on July 13.
