David Tonoyan's Legal Team Issues Statement
David Tonoyan's legal team has issued a statement, which notably mentions:
“The legal team of the former Minister of Defense of Armenia records yet another gross violation of David Tonoyan's right to freedom and personal inviolability. As previously mentioned, the court hearing set for June 27, 2022, regarding the criminal case against David Tonoyan was postponed by Judge Manvel Shahverdyan due to a visit to the embassy. Subsequently, we expected the next court hearing to be scheduled as soon as possible; however, it became apparent that Judge M. Shahverdyan has once again gone on his annual vacation, scheduling the next hearing for August 8, 2022, which is about two months after the previously held session. This is a clear indication of the disregard for reasonable timelines and another gross violation of David Tonoyan's rights to freedom and personal inviolability.
Additionally, during the next court session, Mr. Tonoyan's legal team will not only file a motion for the recusal of Judge M. Shahverdyan but will also seek to partially lift the restrictions on his meetings, allowing for a meeting with representatives of the media.”
