Avanesyan Announced That the Mental Health Center Will Soon Be Completely Renovated

The Minister of Health of Armenia, Anahit Avanesyan, stated in the National Assembly that the government plans to completely renovate the "Avan" mental health center soon, while the services of the Neurosis Clinic will be transferred to that center.

According to the Minister of Health, the adoption of the project is aimed at providing the Scientific Center of Traumatology and Orthopedics, the Republican Endoscopy Center, and the Vardenis Dental Polyclinic with the opportunity to change the direction of their activities and the necessity of excluding the Neurosis Clinic from the State Property Privatization program for 2017-2020.

"The activities of the Neurosis Clinic will be transferred to the Avan Mental Health Center. We will try to develop this service within the framework of a comprehensive, single medical center. For this purpose, funds have already been allocated by the state for renovation and modernization," Avanesyan mentioned.

Deputy Zaruhi Batoyan from the ruling party inquired whether the merger of the two entities would improve access to services, given that the services of the Neurosis Clinic were to be moved to the Avan Mental Health Center. "At the moment, we are still renovating a complete division. The Neurosis Clinic will be located in that newly renovated division. In the near future, we plan to fully renovate the National Mental Health Center of Avan," Avanesyan responded.

MP Lilith Stepanyan asked whether privatization could potentially lead to an increase in unemployment. "The staffing of the medical personnel is under our care. All employees who meet the necessary conditions to work in the new center will be transferred there, and there will be no issues," the minister concluded.
