Vegan Parents in the US Starve Their Son to Death; Mother Faces Life Sentence

In Florida, USA, vegan couple fed their 18-month-old son exclusively raw fruits and vegetables. According to The New York Post, the child died in 2019 from chronic malnutrition and weighed nearly half of what he should have for his age.

The boy's mother, 39-year-old Sheila O’Leary, recounted that a week before his death, her son stopped eating altogether and cried incessantly; however, she did not seek medical help.

The court found her guilty of the child's death, and she is now facing a life sentence. Her husband is also set to face court on charges of cruelty to minors. The couple has three other children who have also reportedly suffered from chronic hunger.
