We Had Three Dozen Political Prisoners in the Armavir Penitentiary: Saghatelyan
Opposition MP and leader of the 'Resistance' movement, Ishkhan Saghatelyan, announced on his Facebook page that on July 3, he visited the Armavir penitentiary with Ashot Simonyan, a member of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation’s governing body, to meet with 'friends of the fight who are being held unlawfully (as they were accused without basis and should have been detained).'
'We had three dozen political prisoners in the Armavir penitentiary, some of whom are already free. Currently, 18 people are still in custody. The guys are indeed strong and resilient. Of course, I can speak at length about all of them, but I especially want to talk about Aram Ter-Harutyunyan, whom I did not know and met in the detention center. Aram is from Yerevan, an honest and educated citizen living a prosperous life, working at Synopsys with a high salary, and he is not a member of any political party.'
'Aram recounted that from the very first day, he participated in the movement's activities because he cannot accept the situation at hand. He is fighting for a dignified and secure life in his homeland. Aram does not remain indifferent to the fate of his country. On June 3, after work, he rushed to join a march and was detained during clashes at the Proshyan-Demirchyan intersection. He was imprisoned without any grounds and simply for being there at that time.'
'People like Aram will not be defeated. We can only stand up thanks to such individuals who, regardless of their political views or social status, have stepped out to fight for their homeland. The 'Resistance' movement is unstoppable because there are many Arams among us. The guys know what they are in captivity for at this moment, and being persecuted and imprisoned by Nikol’s regime is an honor. Let those who continue to remain in their comfort zone, doing nothing while making 'sincere' posts on social media about making the struggle effective, think about that. But that's a topic for another discussion. Warm regards from the guys: #fight_victory #retreating_nikol,' Saghatelyan wrote.
