We Must Understand That We Can Take Steps Towards Peaceful Coexistence with Our Neighbors: Torosyan
The OSCE Minsk Group, in my opinion, has indeed lost its former viability due to geopolitical changes. This was written by Arsen Torosyan, a member of the National Assembly from the "Civil Contract" faction, on his Facebook page.
He particularly noted, "The French and American co-chairs simply cannot talk to the Russian co-chair due to Russia's unwillingness or the opposing side's refusal. And it seems a bit strange to me to continuously reference this format. By doing so, we are effectively pushing the dialogue into a deadlock, which does not serve our interests. We cannot afford such luxury right now. We need to find solutions to confront the looming challenges, not postpone them."
Torosyan also addressed the issue of peace. "As a nation, a people, and a state, we have been endlessly injected with the idea that we cannot and do not have the right to live in peace with our neighbors. Internal forces with various agendas and different states have constantly told us, 'You cannot resolve your issues with your neighbors on your own; we must be present.' I believe we need to break this stereotype and understand that we can take steps towards living peacefully with our neighbors. We now live under the completely opposite stereotype that it is impossible to live alongside a Turk or an Azerbaijani. If we can collectively break this stereotype, we can sit around the table and find compromise solutions. If we do not succeed and continue to be told that it is impossible to agree on any norms of coexistence with our two neighbors—especially Azerbaijan—then we will always remain in this quagmire, which will continually bring us new disasters."
