Russia Suspends Participation in Several Council of Europe Agreements

Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin has signed a decision to suspend Russia's participation in several partial agreements of the Council of Europe. This was reported by RIA Novosti, citing the council's legal information portal.

It is noteworthy that the partial agreement is not directly mentioned in the Council of Europe's charter, but there are several resolutions that regulate such agreements.

Thus, approval has been granted to a proposal from the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which was coordinated with several government agencies.

According to the document, Russia will suspend its participation in the Group of International Cooperation against Drugs and Addictions, the partial agreement from 1990 that establishes the European Commission for “Democracy through Law,” and the partial open agreement concerning the forecasting, prevention, and support in case of natural and technological disasters.

The list also includes agreements regulating the activities of the European Fund for the Joint Production and Distribution of Cinematographic and Audiovisual Works, the extended partial agreement on sports, and the extended partial agreement regarding the cultural routes of the Council of Europe.
