I Welcome Arthur Vanetsyan's Actions: Alen Simonyan
The President of the National Assembly, Alen Simonyan, welcomes the move made by the former leader of the "I Have Honor" faction, Arthur Vanetsyan, to resign from his mandate.
"For example, I welcome Vanetsyan's actions; the man said he wouldn't come to parliament and gave up his mandate," Simonyan stated during a conversation with journalists in the National Assembly.
He noted that discussions regarding the deprivation of mandates from opposition deputies continue. "They have gone out into the streets and said, 'the government is here,' and now they will either come and calmly sit here to vote, or they will not come to sit, and that will already be determined by law and will be a political decision. Either they will come and sit calmly, or they won't come and will be deprived of their mandates until normal deputies come," the NA President emphasized.
According to Alen Simonyan, Ishkhan Saghatelyan should not give interviews saying, 'we will go with our agenda,' but rather admit his defeat. "He should say, 'I have started a political process, I accept my defeat, and now I am giving up my mandate.' Let them do it, let them show that this is not just a power struggle, this is an issue of immunity, an issue of receiving a salary," he said.
