"Arthur, Get Down!" Parents of Fallen Soldiers Protest Outside Prosecutor General’s Office

Parents and relatives of soldiers who lost their lives during the 44-day war in Artsakh are staging a protest outside the Prosecutor General’s office, demanding that Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan be put on trial.

Elizaveta Ohanyan, mother of volunteer Arman Ohanyan, spoke with reporters during the protest, stating that during the war (on October 15), her son sent an SMS message saying, "These lands have been sold, and with them, the lives of boys like mine."

"We are now demanding that a case be opened under Article 299 of the Criminal Code (Treason). We also demand that our case be transferred from the investigative committee to the National Security Service," Ohanyan stated.

Other parents highlighted their lack of trust in the investigative committee, particularly in Arghishti Kyaramyan (head of the investigative committee), expressing disappointment after their meeting with him, claiming they did not receive satisfactory treatment.

The parents also seek clarification from Prosecutor General Arthur Davtyan on whether he can ensure that their case is transferred to the NSS.

The protesters began chanting, "Arthur, get down!"

Aide to Davtyan approached the parents and stated that two individuals could enter, but they refused the offer. Subsequently, another staff member came down and offered that ten parents could enter, but without the presence of journalists and phones.

It should be noted that on June 16, the parents of the fallen soldiers submitted a request to the prosecutor's office to take the criminal case from the investigative committee and examine it at the NSS.

Recall that in June 2021, Artvik Minasyan and Hakob Martirosyan filed a criminal complaint against Pashinyan, demanding that a criminal case be opened regarding the apparent act of treason for actions taken in favor of an enemy state.
