VIDEO. The Cause of Partial Water Outage in Arabkir

Today and tomorrow, the reason for the announced partial water outage in Arabkir is a pipe failure in the "Arzni 2 - Yerevan" main water pipeline near the Kanakeravan gorge. The soil here has slid down from the height and displaced the pipeline, which could not withstand the physical load and ruptured. This was reported by "Veolia Water" on their Facebook page.

“As for the reason behind the soil slide, it seems clear from the next picture: another truck is dumping construction debris into the gorge from the height, adding to the accumulations. This has sharply narrowed the course of the Hrazdan River, creating a pool on-site, and the flowing waters have covered the main road. Veolia specialists and construction equipment have had to reach the site via a bypass, rocky road.

By the way, this is not the first accident in the Kanakeravan gorge. Last summer, the water line was damaged twice in almost the same location due to soil slides burdened with stones and rock debris.

In any case, Veolia has now begun repair work to eliminate the accident and is doing everything possible to reactivate the pipeline in a timely manner.

It remains for the responsible authorities to finally prohibit waste dumping in this area, ensuring smooth water flow in the Hrazdan River and reliable operation of the main water pipeline,” the announcement states.
