VIDEO: How to Fight Against Criminal Subculture. Armenia's Chief Prosecutor Nominee Offers Solutions

Armenia's Chief Prosecutor nominee Anna Vardapetyan considers criminal subculture as the shadow of justice, emphasizing the importance of having a strong and responsive judicial system in combating it. Vardapetyan expressed this view during a discussion in the National Assembly regarding her candidacy, responding to a question from MP Hovik Aguilaryan of the 'Civil Contract' faction.

Aguilaryan described the criminal subculture as an internal challenge, questioning what fuels this phenomenon and which measures should be taken to reduce its harm on society. Vardapetyan stated, 'Criminal subculture is the shadow of justice. If a person does not see justice from state institutions, they seek alternatives. To fight against criminal subculture, we need a strong and responsive judicial system, starting from the police, from the moment a report is accepted, from the moment an alert is raised; otherwise, people will always look for alternatives.'

The Chief Prosecutor nominee noted that if there were no criminal subculture, there would be another replacement for it.
