Video: What Damage Did Lars Suffer? Georgia Temporarily Closes Border with Russia

Due to the rising water levels of the Terek River, a section of the road leading to the Upper Lars checkpoint has collapsed, causing a complete ban on vehicle traffic. This information was reported by the Department of Highways of Georgia.

"A 80-meter-long section was damaged at the 136th kilometer of the Mtskheta-Stepantsminda-Lars international highway. All types of vehicle traffic are prohibited," the announcement states.

Measures are currently being taken to resolve the issue and restore the road in a timely manner. The country's Ministry of Finance also announced that due to the heavy rains, Georgia is temporarily closing the border with Russia.
