Body Retrieved from Vehicle by Rescuers: New Details on Major and Tragic Car Accident
Today, on June 27, a major and tragic car accident occurred in the Aragatson region. Around 02:30, on the Ashtarak-Ejmiatsin highway, within the administrative territory of Sasunik village, a collision took place between a GAZ 53 vehicle driven by 50-year-old Arthur Manukyan and an Opel Astra driven by 24-year-old Levon Mkrtchyan, a resident of the Armavir region.
According to photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan from the scene, as a result of the collision, the Opel veered off its lane, collided with two concrete support columns of a building, broke them, and overturned, landing near a gas station's fountain.
As a result of the accident, the driver of the GAZ 53 was taken to the Ashtarak Medical Center with injuries, while the driver of the Opel died on the spot. His body was extracted from the vehicle by the rescuers of the Ministry of Emergency Situations' 19th Fire and Rescue Brigade in Ashtarak, using special equipment.
The on-duty medical team at Ashtarak hospital provided first aid at the scene before transporting the GAZ 53 driver to the hospital.
