Thousands of People Take to the Streets in the U.S.

Thousands of people have gathered in front of the Supreme Court in the U.S. after it overturned a 1973 decision that legalized abortion nationwide. In Washington and other major cities across the country, protesters have called for the protection of women's rights to choose when it comes to having children.

According to the ruling, this issue will now be regulated at the individual state level. The New York Times reports that following the decision, bans on abortion have come into effect in six states.

President Joe Biden has strongly condemned the ruling of the U.S. Supreme Court. “The Court is taking America back 150 years with this decision. I urge Congress to pass federal legislation that guarantees women’s right to choose,” the President stated.
