Erdogan Talks About Proposed Death Penalty for Arson
Turkey's President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has discussed the initiative to impose the death penalty for forest arson. The information was reported by TASS.
"If the punishment is to be preventive, then it should be the death penalty for setting forests on fire," Erdogan stated in Marmaris, where firefighters have been battling a major natural fire for the third day, covering an area of 3,000 hectares.
According to the Turkish president, this "issue needs to be discussed."
