No Peace Treaty for a Long Time: Lapshin on the 'Games' of Yerevan and Baku
“Yerevan and Baku are playing games with negotiations; a peace treaty will not be reached for a long time. It is not in Armenia's interest to sign such an agreement, but it is necessary to continue negotiations in order to create the impression of being a good partner,” said journalist Alexander Lapshin during a broadcast on 24TV.
He believes that opening the borders will not bring revenue to Armenia, but rather more headaches, which is why agreeing to a peace treaty is not worthwhile.
“Israel signed peace treaties with several Arab countries because it was beneficial. Armenia should approach the issue based on its own interests,” noted Lapshin.
The speaker expressed confidence that no issues in the region will be resolved without Russia, and as long as the conflict with Ukraine continues, there will be a cessation regarding this matter.
