"For Armenia, this is a priority": Pashinyan at the EAEU Intergovernmental Council Meeting
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated at the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council meeting that ensuring food security in EAEU countries remains one of the most crucial issues in the context of modern economic challenges.
“Currently, due to objective reasons, there are certain limitations in the supply of some types of agricultural products in the general agricultural market, which can adversely affect the stable functioning of agriculture in our countries and, in general, the food supply of the Union,” said Pashinyan.
According to him, member countries of the Union need to collectively respond to risks by minimizing the probability of food shortages.
Pashinyan also noted that a significant portion of the obstacles faced by businesses is the result of the absence of unified, coordinated, harmonized rules of operation. “I also consider the regulation of the alcohol market to be important. The establishment of common goals and principles, as well as common regulatory measures, could contribute to the creation of a unified market without discriminatory restrictions and exceptions in mutual trade. For Armenia, this is a priority and has broad export potential,” the Prime Minister stated.
