Trees Cut Down in Front of the Zoo: City Hall Provides Clarification
It was reported that environmentalist Levon Galstyan raised an alarm about trees being cut down on Mashtots Avenue in front of the Yerevan Zoo. The environmentalist emphasized that three of the trees were cut down last year, and today, another three were also cut down.
Auroranews contacted the Yerevan City Hall to understand the purpose of the tree cutting and whether the city hall was aware of the situation. The city hall informed us that the cutting was illegal and a report had been filed with the police.
We reached out to the public relations and media department of the RA Police, where it was stated that a report regarding this case was received on July 18, 2021, at the Marash police station.
Based on the prepared materials, a criminal case was initiated on July 28, 2021, on the basis of Article 296 of the RA Criminal Code and sent for preliminary investigation.
Auroranews also connected with the public relations and media department of the RA Investigative Committee, where it was confirmed that a preliminary investigation is currently underway in relation to the mentioned case.
