Expensive Classic Cars Belonging to the Iranian Pahlavi Family: Arpine Arushanyan

Yerevan State University lecturer on Iranian Studies, Arpine Arushanyan, wrote on her Facebook page: “In Iran, there is a 'National Museum of Cars' where, since 2001, valuable classic cars belonging to the Pahlavi family have been exhibited. Reza Shah had a great passion for sports cars and would often drive around the outskirts of Tehran at night in one of them. After the Shah left the country in 1979, many of the cars remained in the country, were stolen, and some were sold (reportedly for 5 million dollars to an Arab sheikh). For the Islamic Republic, these cars held no value (although some of them are indeed incredibly rare), and it was only through the efforts of a few individuals that they were preserved and today are museum pieces.”
