What Has Changed in the Section of Tsitsernakaberd Highway: Citizens Sound the Alarm

The press service of Yerevan City Hall announced that the entire collapsed section of Tsitsernakaberd Highway has been restored and is now open for operation. Traffic will be conducted in three lanes—two full lanes from Dalma Mall towards the Sports and Concert Complex (MHC) and one lane from MHC towards Dalma Garden Mall.

According to the city authorities, this arrangement is necessary to implement construction reinforcement measures to avoid similar situations in the future.

Following this announcement, many citizens reacted to the municipality's statement, noting that the road section has not been restored but has instead been narrowed.

Military expert Karen Vrtanesyan wrote: “Tsitsernakaberd Highway is reopened. The city hall joyfully announces. In fact, the COLLAPSED SECTION HAS NOT BEEN RESTORED; they have merely narrowed the road to the extent of the collapse. This means the four-lane road has become a three-lane road, and that’s it. The question remains open: who has been held accountable for the collapse, and how?”

Activist Aram Manukyan commented on his Facebook page: “It seems they have narrowed Tsitsernakaberd Highway, and they have named it an improvement.” Hrach Sargsyan, how are you doing? Are you well?”

A user named Robert Markosyan also wrote: “There used to be four lanes... now there are three... one was consumed... whether it was the builders responsible for the collapse or the city hall... they’ll gloss over it once again... and we are left with yet another inconvenient road...”
