VIDEO: The Artsakh Issue Is Not Related to the Armenian-Azerbaijani Border Delimitation Process, Says Pashinyan to Al Jazeera

The issue of Nagorno-Karabakh is not related to the delimitation of the borders between Armenia and Azerbaijan and the activities of the national security committees. This was stated by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan in an interview with Al Jazeera.

“I note that the Artsakh issue is not in any way connected with the delimitation commission, as I said, we have different formats of communication with Azerbaijan, and one of them concerns the delimitation issue,” he said, adding that security is also important along the entire Armenian-Azerbaijani border.

According to Pashinyan, the second direction of the Armenian-Azerbaijani dialogue is aimed at normalizing relations between Yerevan and Baku, which is discussed in a different format.

“There is also a third direction regarding the unblocking of regional transport and economic communications. But, of course, the most important issue for peace in the region is the Artsakh issue,” said Nikol Pashinyan.

In response to a journalist's question, “Does Russia support Azerbaijan more in this process?”, the head of the Armenian government emphasized that “Russia is Armenia's strategic partner and ally, but also has very close relations with Azerbaijan.”

“In this case, we see Russia's role as the guarantor of the implementation of the trilateral statement (on the cessation of military operations in Nagorno-Karabakh on November 9, 2020),” he said.
