Video: Coordinates of Positions Transferred for $2800 and 6000 Rubles - NSS Disclosure
The NSS of Armenia has revealed a significant case of treason where a former serviceman was recruited by foreign intelligence services through social media and agreed to provide state and military secrets. The investigation conducted by the military counterintelligence and investigative departments of the NSS uncovered that the individual, initially a soldier, gathered and conveyed sensitive information about military positions, the number of personnel on duty, their armament, combat tasks, and other operational details.
The ex-soldier, in exchange for payment, transmitted this information via correspondence to foreign intelligence agents. Included in this espionage were the coordinates of combat positions, photographs of trenches, paths leading to these positions, command personnel data, and the organizational structure of their unit. This act constitutes state treason against the territorial integrity and external security of the Republic of Armenia.
Additionally, the former soldier attempted to contact a former colleague to gather more military-related information for the foreign intelligence service, specifically concerning unit organization and equipment. His endeavors were thwarted as he was apprehended by NSS agents. In return for his treacherous actions, he received partial payments from the foreign intelligence services and had arranged to receive a total of $2800 and 6000 rubles in the future.
Simultaneously, in another NSS investigation concerning state treason, evidence was gathered against a contract serviceman who also established contact with foreign intelligence through social media and was recruited by them. This serviceman, in exchange for money, compiled and transmitted state secrets threatening the security of Armenia via mobile applications, including details about military drafts, armored vehicles, and the layout of military installations, thus aiding enemy activities that jeopardized Armenia's external security while receiving regular bank transfers totaling $900.
Both servicemen were arrested on suspicion of committing state treason and have provided confessions. They are currently in custody as a preventive measure. The NSS is committed to persistently combating these crimes that undermine the foundations of the state, assuring that it has full control of the operational situation and that anyone involved in espionage activities will be identified and subjected to punishment or other legal consequences.
