UN Calls Situation in Donetsk Extremely Tense

The United Nations (UN) has assessed the situation in Donetsk as extremely critical, stated UN Secretary-General spokesman Stéphane Dujarric, according to Kp.ru.

“Our partners engaged in humanitarian work have told us that the situation in Donetsk remains extremely tense. The escalation of tension over the past week has caused great suffering to the civilian population, including aid providers and residents in the city,” he said at a press briefing.

As noted by the UN Secretary-General’s representative, there have been civilian casualties in the city over the past 24 hours, including children. Dujarric also drew attention to the shelling of the maternity hospital in Donetsk.
