Before the National Assembly Session, the CP Group Held a Meeting: 'Hraparak'
'Hraparak' newspaper reports: 'Before the start of today's National Assembly session, yesterday the CP group held a meeting. In addition to discussing the agenda items, they also addressed the issue of revoking mandates from opposition members. For some time now, the authorities have been vocal about their desire to revoke the mandates of more than a dozen MPs due to absence, a stance also articulated by National Assembly President Alen Simonyan.
Our sources within the ruling team state that during the closed meeting, the issue was not unambiguously accepted; opinions among the ruling faction were divided. The pro-Western faction led by vice-presidents Ruben Rubinyan and Hakob Arshakyan opposed such a process, stating that it would not be recognized by international bodies. The other faction insisted that if they are not to revoke the mandates, they should at least strip committee chairs, vice-chairs, and vice-speaker positions from them. The President of the National Assembly did not attend the meeting as he is on a business trip.'
