Summer Draft Launched in Armenia
The summer draft for 2022 commenced on June 13. To familiarize himself with the work being done with young men heading for mandatory military service, Armenia's Minister of Defense Suren Papikyan visited the central collection point of the Ministry of Defense, accompanied by the acting chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Kamo Kochunts, and other senior military officials.
The officials responsible for the draft presented to the Minister the procedures for the reception of conscripts, and the organization of their admission and medical examinations.
Suren Papikyan assessed the conditions available for carrying out the draft at the collection point, toured all the conscription halls, and instructed to pay special attention to the health issues of the conscripts, as well as to make necessary decisions to enhance the effectiveness of the draft process while ensuring fairness and transparency.
The Minister of Defense also observed the lottery process for service placements, spoke with the conscripts, inquired about their expectations and morale, and wished them a safe service.
