Video: We hope Russia is capable of restoring the established status quo in Parukh direction
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia, Ararat Mirzoyan, announced during a press briefing after a private conversation with the Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov that they had discussed security issues in anticipation of tomorrow's CSTO meeting.
“Naturally, the focus of our discussion today was on the possible document for resolving the relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan regarding Nagorno-Karabakh, and on questions related to the resolution process of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. I reaffirmed the readiness of the Armenian government to make efforts towards achieving stability and peace in the region. In this context, it is crucial to address the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, which will include key points regarding the security of the people of Artsakh and the assurance of all their rights, as well as the final determination of the status of Nagorno-Karabakh. The principles for resolving the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict have been developed by the co-chairmanship of the OSCE MG, and we are interested in activating the mediation mandate assigned to this format by the international community.
Let me remind you that our country’s leaders reaffirmed the importance of the potential and experience of the OSCE MG co-chairmanship in accordance with its international mandate during their last meeting. Russia has played a key role in stopping the aggression unleashed against the people of Nagorno-Karabakh, and the deployment of peacekeeping forces in Nagorno-Karabakh is intended to prevent provocations and to ensure the security of the people of Artsakh, aiming to create conditions for the restoration of normal life, stability, and security in our region. Armenia continues to believe that the Russian peacekeeping mission is capable of restoring the status quo established by the November 9 statement in the context of the situation that existed as of March 23, which was violated by the entry of the Azerbaijani armed forces into the village of Parukh on March 24,” said Mirzoyan.
