Armenian Driver Had Mental Health Issues: New Details on Pedestrian Incident in Berlin
An Armenian-origin driver involved in a pedestrian incident in Berlin, which resulted in a group of schoolchildren being hit, has had mental health issues, stated Ayris Spranger, the Senator for Internal Affairs of Berlin.
"The suspect, of Armenian descent, obtained German citizenship in 2015. We have information that he has previously had psychiatric problems," said Spranger, whose statement was aired by the Welt television channel.
Earlier on Wednesday, as reported, a car had struck a group of people in the center of Germany's capital. According to police data, one person has died, and eight others have been injured. It was later revealed that the driver who hit the pedestrians is a 29-year-old citizen of Germany of Armenian descent.
