VIDEO: Police Are Performing Excellently, I Thank Them - Minister
All citizens and police officers have received appropriate medical assistance, with about 70% discharged in the morning. There were also cases requiring stationary medical care, who have also been discharged. This was stated by the Minister of Health Anahit Avanesyan during a press briefing concerning the health condition of those injured in clashes between police and citizens a few days ago.
"There is one citizen who underwent surgery, and now his health condition is normal. The injuries sustained were primarily due to blows and jostling, also in the case of police officers. Evaluating the cause of the injuries is not part of our research parameters," she said.
In response to a question from journalists regarding her assessment of the police actions towards opposition citizens, Avanesyan stated, "I can say that throughout this period, the police forces and everyone in general operate strictly according to the letter of democratic laws and carry out their service with due diligence. I must note that I am sometimes surprised by our police officers' patience and their strong nerves; they are performing excellently, and I also thank them."
Avanesyan noted that the attempts by opposition members to enter government buildings are unacceptable to her. "Any person who engages in unlawful actions should be prepared for proportional restraint measures to be applied against them," the minister said.
When journalists reminded Avanesyan of the incidents of entering the Radio House in 2018, she responded, "If you look at the footage and compare, you will see that there is no correlation between them; I am confident that you have seen the difference very clearly." In response to the question of whether she feels restricted in expressing her stance regarding the status of Artsakh, Anahit Avanesyan replied, "Yes, I am a public servant and generally have constraints to operate within the law in my activities."
