Polyclinic Director Received Bribe of 5.8 Million AMD from Therapist

The Criminal Police Main Directorate's department for combating crimes related to financial and intellectual property has obtained factual evidence that the director of the "Nubarashen" Polyclinic, a state healthcare closed joint-stock company under the City Hall of Yerevan, demanded and received a bribe from a therapist at the polyclinic from 2013 to 2022. This bribe amounted to 30% of the therapist's salary and bonuses each month.

Out of fear of losing his job and to avoid unnecessary problems, the therapist agreed to the terms and handed over the bribe in cash until April 2022, with the total amounting to 5 million 800 thousand AMD.

Furthermore, the director misusing his official position offered to a citizen a monthly bribe of 30% of the salary and bonuses for accepting them into a vacant position as a district therapist, as well as for patronage later. The citizen was hired on August 1, 2014, and up until this April, has handed over a total of more than 6 million 630 thousand AMD to the director in cash.

A criminal case has been initiated in the Main Directorate of Criminal Police regarding these incidents, which has been forwarded to the Anti-Corruption Committee.
