What Will Happen to the Fate of Dadivank: Azerbaijan Unsettled by the Presence of Armenians
Official Baku is doing everything possible to remove Armenian clergy from Dadivank. According to ArmLur.am, Azerbaijan is currently lobbying the Russian side to replace Armenian priests with Russian clergymen.
Azerbaijan has also developed a scenario to remove Armenian clergy from Dadivank, projecting this into the domain of the Russian Orthodox Church. In a conversation with ArmLur.am, Rev. Isaya Khana Arthenyans, the director of the information department of the Armenian Apostolic Church, stated that they have no new information on this matter. “The leader of the Artsakh diocese has given an interview on this, and we have nothing more to add,” he noted.
Meanwhile, Bishop Vrtanes Abrahamyan, the head of the Artsakh Diocese, conveyed to Aravot that Azerbaijan is not proposing a replacement of clergy but is rather advancing the issue of exercising control over the area. In this manner, Azerbaijan is also trying to remove Russian peacekeepers from the Dadivank area in the Karvachar region because if there are no Armenian Apostolic Church ministers there, then the need for Russian peacekeepers will be eliminated as well.
