48 Participants of Opposition Rally Arrested, 24 Detained, 2100 Participants Summoned: Saghatelyan
According to official data, to date, over 2100 participants of the "Resistance" movement have been summoned to various police departments. This information was shared on Facebook by Iskhan Saghatelyan, a member of the "Resistance" movement and Vice Speaker of the National Assembly.
He stated that not all summoned individuals have been documented by the police. In reality, the number of summoned individuals is about 2500 people. "Since April 25, 48 dignified citizens have been arrested. Of these, 24 have been detained. At this very moment, courts are reviewing detention motions. It is a fact that there are about 50 political prisoners in the 'bastion of democracy' (including those detained prior to the movement). The accusations against the arrested and detained citizens are baseless or unlawful. Meanwhile, the entire internet and media are flooded with evidence of police abuses, violence, and inhumane treatment. Despite this, no police officer has been held accountable for their crimes up to this point. And this is also a telling fact about 'Nikolic democracy.'
Dear compatriots, Armenia will not become a dictatorship. The police in Armenia will serve the law and legality, not the delusions of a mad tyrant. Armenia will be a country of dignified citizens, not a police state.
Tomorrow at 19:00, we gather at France Square. We must show who the real owners of Armenia are. We must demonstrate what the real values of Armenia are. We must showcase the kind of country we want to have. So, on June 6 at 19:00 at France Square," wrote Saghatelyan.
It should be recalled that a wave of protests erupted in Armenia following Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's statements regarding Artsakh.
