Train Derails in China: Casualties Reported
On Saturday, a high-speed passenger train derailed in southern China due to a sudden landslide. According to China Central Television, the driver was killed, and at least 8 others were injured.
The incident occurred at approximately 10:30 local time. The D2809 high-speed train was traveling from Guiyang to Guangzhou. The television report stated that the landslide happened near the entrance of the tunnel at the Junzijiang station, causing the 7th and 8th carriages of the train to go off the tracks.
All injured individuals, including one attendant and seven passengers, were taken to the hospital, where they received medical assistance and are not in life-threatening condition. It was also noted that the remaining 136 passengers on board were quickly evacuated.
