Samvel Gasparyan Becomes Silver Medalist at European Weightlifting Championship

In the European Weightlifting Championship ongoing in the capital of Albania, Tirana, 102 kg weight class lifters entered the competition. Armenia's national team member Samvel Gasparyan lifted 172 kg in the snatch and then 176 kg. During the clean and jerk, the Armenian lifter successfully attempted 208 kg, 211 kg, and 214 kg on three occasions.

With a total of 390 kg, Gasparyan secured the second position in Europe. The first place was taken by Bulgaria's David Fisher with a total lift of 392 kg.

It is worth mentioning that Rafik Harutyunyan won a gold medal for the Armenian team at the European Championship, while Andranik Karapetyan became the silver medalist in the snatch. Tatev Hakobyan also won a small bronze medal. In the 96 kg weight class, Davit Hovhannisyan became the European champion, and Ara Aghanyan took the silver medal.
