Will Hayk Sargsyan Attend the Opposition's Extraordinary Meeting? The MP Responds
Today, parliamentary opposition members will return to the National Assembly from France Square to hold an extraordinary meeting. The ruling majority has already announced that it will not participate in the session initiated by the opposition.
MediaHub.am has contacted the members of the "Civil Contract" party to clarify whether their position has changed. MP Hayk Sargsyan stated that nothing has changed since their announcement.
“No, I won’t go, and I don’t even want to talk about it; we don’t want to give them importance or address their topic; there is no issue for us there,” Sargsyan said, leaving unanswered the question of whether any points of cooperation with the opposition might be found.
It should be noted that the opposition has published a document outlining the following points:
- Armenia will support the full realization of the right to self-determination of the people of Artsakh.
- Artsakh will never be part of Azerbaijan.
- There should be a reliable land connection between the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Artsakh; Artsakh will not be an enclave.
- The Republic of Armenia guarantees the security of the people of Artsakh and the realization of their right to self-determination.
- The delimitation and demarcation work should be carried out on the condition of the withdrawal of Azerbaijani forces from the sovereign territory of the Republic of Armenia.
- As a result of the delimitation and demarcation works, the integrity of the Republic of Armenia must not be compromised.
- In the process of normalizing Armenian-Turkish relations, any agreement that would put the Armenian Genocide into question is ruled out.
- The unblocking of roads with Azerbaijan and Turkey cannot occur with a corridor logic.
