‘The situation at Upper Lars remains extremely tense’ - Kerobyan on the accumulation of trucks at the Georgia-Russia border

Today, there are over 1,000 trucks filled with Armenian goods in Georgia. This was stated by Armenian Minister of Economy Vahan Kerobyan during discussions on the execution of the state budget for 2021 in the National Assembly. Earlier, we had reported that for about a month, Armenian drivers of these trucks have been at the Georgia-Russia border and are unable to continue their journey or return.

The European routes, which previously passed through Belarus and Ukraine, are now forced to enter Russia through Turkey and Georgia, leading to significant congestion. "The situation at Upper Lars remains extremely tense. The checkpoint's capacity allows for 170 trucks per day in each direction. According to the latest data, three times that number is attempting to pass through there," said Kerobyan.
