Saghatelyan Invites Pashinyan for a Meeting
Currently, all entrances to the government are blocked. Our demand is the following: there are still 2.5 hours left to convene the National Assembly session and resolve the situation. This was stated today, June 3, at a rally of the ‘Resistance’ movement at France Square by the Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly, Ishkhan Saghatelyan.
“We are here because the parliament is led by the government. The moment we announced from the square that we are heading to the government building, he fled from here 5 minutes later, but that does not save him. There are several hundred employees and government members currently trapped in the government building. And we are saying — Nikol, where have you run off to? We don’t know, come here, come answer our questions. If you lack the courage, we are ready to meet wherever you prefer, but you can't run away forever. We will continue to block the building until we get answers to our questions. There is a possibility to convene a session of the National Assembly until 20:00,” Saghatelyan said.
It is worth noting that today, the opposition parties ‘Hayastan’ and ‘Pativ Unem’ initiated an extraordinary session in the National Assembly with a draft declaration regarding the Armenian-Azerbaijani and Armenian-Turkish relations on the agenda, but the MPs from the ruling party did not attend the session, causing it to fail. After that, opposition MPs returned to France Square, from where they marched to the government building and blocked all entrances to the government.
