Reforms in the Armed Forces Are Slowing or Absent Because the Minister Doesn't Like It, Abrahamyan

Following the 44-day war, Azerbaijan has formed 4 new special purpose units (Commando) within the framework of military reforms, particularly transitioning to a Turkish model. This was reported by Tigran Abrahamyan, a member of the ‘I Have Honor’ faction of the National Assembly, on his Facebook page.

He specifically noted, “It is evident from Azerbaijani media that these units have fully undergone training in Turkish training grounds and similar facilities designated for the preparation of such troops. It is planned that in the future, some of these units will undergo training in Azerbaijan with Turkish active participation. The number of formations established and reorganized at the level of army corps and border troops is something to discuss another time.”

“Meanwhile, the Minister of Defense in Armenia is still talking about private dining facilities introduced 3 years ago, soldiers are disappearing under uncertain conditions at the front, and in some crucial areas of the defense line, soldiers are carrying out combat duty in tents. Reforms in the armed forces are slowing or absent because the minister doesn't like it... and unfortunately, this series can continue. But they say it’s a ‘peaceful era’.”
