American Gets Angry at Girlfriend, Breaks $5 Million Plate in Museum

A Texas museum was the scene of extensive damage caused by an intruder who illegally entered the premises, resulting in over $5 million in losses, according to TACC citing the Associated Press.

Twenty-one-year-old Brian Hernandez burst into the Dallas Art Museum late Wednesday night and unleashed a spree of destruction, shattering an ancient Greek amphora and a plate valued at over $5 million. He claimed to have acted because he was "angry at his girlfriend." The police reported that he eluded museum security staff, smashed glass cases, and destroyed ancient Greek artifacts, at least one of which was dated to 450 BC.

Additionally, the assailant damaged an ancient Greek vessel worth approximately $100,000 and a ceramic bottle from the Caddo Indians valued at $10,000. The culprit was apprehended by security staff and subsequently presented in court, where he was charged with intentional and particularly large-scale damage. He faces up to five years in prison for this offense.
