Major Reforms at the Vazgen Sargsyan Military University: What the Government Has Planned
The government has prepared a serious reform package for the Vazgen Sargsyan Military University, both in terms of content and physical infrastructure. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan made this announcement during the government meeting on June 2.
“You know that we are entering a very important phase of reforms in the Armed Forces, and this decision (regarding the provision of state housing for officers who have completed military education) should have a cornerstone significance. During my years as a member of parliament, I have expressed that it is a major issue when an officer in the Republic of Armenia serves as a colonel and has spent a large part of his life in the mountains—how can we address his housing needs? In other words, if there are no proper state mechanisms, that is a problem, and we want to fundamentally solve that issue,” Pashinyan said.
The Prime Minister also recalled the mortgage program designed for military personnel, which has demonstrated considerable activity and demand. According to him, funding for this program should also be increased.
“We need to pursue this path to create opportunities for soldiers to focus on their professional work while having as many social guarantees as possible,” Pashinyan concluded.
