How Many Internal Investigations Have Been Launched Regarding Police Actions: Tovmasyan Details

A total of 47 internal investigations have been launched regarding the actions of police officers, and 10 criminal cases have been initiated. This was announced by MP Taguhi Tovmasyan of the 'I Have Honor' parliamentary faction on her Facebook page.

She specifically stated: 'I demanded clarification from Police Chief Vahe Ghazaryan regarding the following questions: 1. Have the police officers who used disproportionate force since the start of peaceful protests and rallies been identified or not? 2. How many police officers are facing internal investigations regarding their actions? 3. What is the status of the internal investigations involving police officers? 4. Which police officers have used violence against citizens, and how many criminal cases have been initiated based on this?'

In another letter, I informed the police chief that on May 23, a police officer openly insulted a citizen conducting an informational motorcade, and I asked him to consider the issue of launching an internal investigation and provide me with information.

I have received response letters stating that an internal investigation has been initiated against the police officer who insulted the citizen, while starting from April 18, 47 internal investigations regarding the actions of police officers during various acts of civil disobedience have been initiated, of which 2 results were left without consequence, 3 were suspended, and the rest are in process. A total of 10 criminal cases have been initiated regarding the actions of police officers. The identification of police officers who committed disciplinary or other violations and their scope will be clarified based on the final results of the internal investigations. I will remain vigilant.'
