150 Million Dram for Supporting Reproductive Health of Fallen Soldiers' Parents
The government has made a decision to allocate funds from Armenia's 2022 state budget to partially reimburse expenses for parents of fallen soldiers to access surrogate motherhood services and acquire donor eggs as part of a reproductive health support initiative. This was announced by the press division of the Armenian government.
Accordingly, it is proposed to allocate an additional approximately 150 million dram from the budget for the financing of the program. According to the justification, the initiative provides for 12,400,000 dram to partially reimburse the expenses of eight beneficiaries; however, this amount is insufficient considering that the number of parent beneficiaries seeking reimbursement continues to rise. Since December 1, 2021, more than 200 applications have been received.
