Over 400 Intellectuals Issue Call: Declaration

Armenian National Assembly Member Lilit Galstyan has reported that the number of those joining the call of intellectuals has surpassed 400.

The Call of Intellectuals reads as follows:

“Dear compatriots, the threats directed at statehood have severely deepened, crossing all red lines. The socio-economic, spiritual-cultural, and political crisis created in Armenia is not only unresolved but also intensifying day by day.

Due to the political policies pursued by the authorities over the past four years, the Armenian people face an existential threat, jeopardizing the prospects of Armenian statehood. The authorities have effectively abandoned the right to self-determination of Artsakh, jeopardizing even the right to life of a significant part of our people. They are incapable of and do not even strive to protect the territorial integrity of the Republic of Armenia.

The country is experiencing overt repression and political persecution. All this is happening in an atmosphere of growing hatred and national division within society, imposing moral and value losses, which is fraught with disastrous consequences and an unpredictable future.

In this critical moment of security and moral disaster, the silence of the Armenian intellectual is inevitably leading to irretrievable losses by encouraging destructive national policies. An Armenian intellectual has no right to remain silent.

In the context of these fateful events, with concern for maintaining a dignified stance before future generations, there is only one overarching task: to decisively stand up and prevent the destruction of the homeland.

We all bear responsibility for the future and advocate for a united national struggle aimed at saving Artsakh, halting the dissolution of Armenian statehood, and restoring our national dignity and solidarity.

We, the undersigned, are convinced that in the name of our dignified future, together we can stop this destructive trend and participate in the true rebirth of Armenian statehood.”
