Varujan Avetisyan and Other Members of the 'Sasna Tsrer' Group Arrested

Varujan Avetisyan, a member of the National Democratic Axis (NDA) council, has been arrested. The information was disclosed by NDA member Haik Martirosyan.

“Other well-known members of the 'Sasna Tsrer' militant group have also been arrested,” he wrote on his Facebook page.

According to Martirosyan, the operation for arrests was carried out starting from 6 AM.

Former National Assembly member Zarukh Postanjyan also reported on her Facebook page that this morning, at 06:30, ten men, five of whom were dressed in police uniforms, raided Pavel Manukyan's house and took him away in an unknown direction.

No details have been provided regarding the reasons for the arrests. The NDA has also reported the arrest of other members.

It is noteworthy that the 'Sasna Tsrer' armed group attacked the Pambak Patrol Police Station on July 17, 2016, demanding the resignation of the then-current government (President Serzh Sargsyan) and the release of their leader, Jirair Sefilyan from prison. The violent actions of the armed group resulted in the deaths of three police officers: Artur Vanoyan, Gagik Mkrtchyan, and Yuri Tepanosyan.
