Turkey Has Not Informed the U.S. of Plans to Initiate Operations in Northern Syria via Military Channels, Pentagon Says

The Pentagon spokesperson John Kirby has stated that the United States has not received any military notification from Turkey regarding intentions to commence new operations in northern Syria. This was reported by РИА Новости.

“I would advise you to reach out to the State Department to determine whether there have been any diplomatic communications with Turkey. As for me, I am not aware of any high-level Pentagon communications regarding Turkey's intentions to conduct military operations in northern Syria,” said Kirby.

Earlier, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan announced a military operation in northern Syria. The objective of the operation will be to create a 30-kilometer safe zone along the Turkish-Syrian border. The incursion may target areas controlled by Kurdish militants.

According to Ned Price, the spokesperson for the U.S. State Department, this operation poses threats.
