UN Calls on North Korea to Comply with Security Council Resolutions
UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has urged Pyongyang to comply with UN Security Council resolutions and return to negotiations regarding the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula. This was announced by the Secretary-General's official representative, Stefan Dujarric, as reported by TASS.
The demand was made in connection with the recent missile launches by the DPRK.
“Diplomatic engagement remains the only way to achieve peace, complete and verifiable denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula,” Dujarric stated.
It was previously reported that Pyongyang had tested a nuclear warhead device in preparation for its seventh nuclear test. Preparatory work for the next nuclear test has not been conducted at the Punggye-ri nuclear test site, according to Seoul. It is still unknown when exactly Pyongyang intends to conduct nuclear tests.
