Gunshots Heard in Yerevan, Ford Overturned Loaded with Millions in Stolen Goods – Investigative Committee Provides Details
The Investigative Committee of Armenia has launched an inquiry within the Yerevan city investigative department for the Avan and Nor-Nork administrative districts to clarify all circumstances surrounding a particularly large-scale theft.
According to preliminary data, on the night of May 24, 2022, individuals suspected of committing a crime reportedly stole decommissioned and stored copper telephone cables from a warehouse owned by a private company, causing the company substantial property damage amounting to 4,500,000 AMD.
A criminal case has been initiated in the Yerevan city prosecutor's office pursuant to part 1 of Article 177, part 3 of the RA Criminal Code, and has been forwarded to the investigative department for the Avan and Nor-Nork administrative districts for further investigation.
During the investigative process, urgent and extensive investigative and procedural actions were undertaken, and through cooperation with law enforcement, several circumstances of the incident were revealed, including the identity of eight individuals who directly committed the crime. They were identified, detained, and arrested on suspicion of committing large-scale theft. The investigation is ongoing, with measures being taken to clarify all aspects of the case and ensure an objective and comprehensive inquiry. Instructions have been given to the investigative body.
