Video: Teenagers Attempt to Take Selfie on Iceberg, But Ice Breaks Off and Sweeps Them Away
A thick layer of ice is flowing along the Lena River in Yakutsk. This has been reported by the press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, which warns people to refrain from climbing on the ice, as four teenagers have done.
In the town of Tomot, several teenagers climbed onto an iceberg from the shore. The boys ascended the thick layer of ice to take pictures, after which the iceberg broke off and was swept away by the river's current. Rescuers and the mayor of Tomot arrived at the scene. The rescue service has initiated measures to retrieve the boys from the river.
It is noted that earlier a resident from the village of Khandiga ignored safety measures and was left without a car. The man had come to admire the ice layers and parked his vehicle in the shoreline area. He did not notice that the thick layer of ice had covered his car.
