From Today, Gazprom Stops Gas Supplies to Finland

Starting from May 21, at 07:00 Moscow time, Gazprom Export has halted gas supplies to the Finnish state energy company Gasum, under the contract signed between them. This decision comes as Finland failed to pay for the gas supplied in April and refused to make payments in rubles, reported TASS.

On Friday, Gazprom Export announced that it had not received payment from the Finnish company for gas deliveries in April by the end of the working day on May 20. Therefore, the Russian holding notified Gasum of the cessation of gas supplies effective May 21.

The Finnish company has stated this week that it does not intend to meet Gazprom's demand to pay for the supplied gas in rubles and has decided to file a lawsuit regarding the contract with Gazprom Export.

Since April 1, buyers from unfriendly countries can only pay for Russian gas in rubles.
